Vilimas Norkunas (born in 1981) is a musician from Vilnius, who has a broad range of music experience and qualifications as a professional organist, conductor and harpsichord player. At a young age he studied at the music department of the M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art, where he recieved training in violin, piano, organ and choir conducting.

His career as a student started in 1999 when he began studying organ and conducting at the Music Academy in Vilnius. As an organist in the capital city, he worked in the university church of St. Johannes, as well as in the St. Nicholas Church and the Church of the Holy Cross. In 2002 Vilimas Norkunas decided to continue his studies in organ and church music with H.Metzger at the Mozarteum Music University in Salzburg. Since 2008 he has been studying at the Music University in Graz, where he studies organ and church music with U. Walther, choir conducting with J. Prinz, and harpsichord and early music with M. Hell. In 2011 he finished his Masters in church music, in 2012 in Choral conducting and 2014 in harpsichord.

In 2006 Vilimas Norkunas won first prize at the Jonas-Žukas Organ Competition in Vilnius. 2017 appeared successfully in H. I. F. Biber competition for Early music with Duo commovendo. He has taken part in masterclasses with M. Sander (2006), L. Lohmann (2007), P. van Dijk (2008), M. Märkl, H. Vogel und R. Meyer (2010), M. Melcova and P. Planyavski (2011), L. Ghielmi (2013), T. Linder (2016) and others. He played with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra in some of the most famous concert halls in Europe, performed an organ concerto with the Varna Philharmonic Orchestra in Bulgaria and appeared with the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra. 2013-2016 he leaded youth mixed choir Exaudi. By the way, with University St. Johns church gospel choir he plays on Sundays as a jazz pianist.

2014-2015 he was teaching Organ and Choral conducting at Klaipėda University. Since 2015 he works as organist in St. Ignatius church. 2014 he grounded together with two musicians an early music ensemble Chiaroscuro. They played at international Banchetto Musicale festival program "Augelletti, rusceletti“, gave concerts with medieval music „Rosas das Rosas“, extraordinary Baroque performance with dance "Affetti musicali“, 2017 appeared in Riga and Bauska festivals (Latvia), etc. Vilimas gave concerts harpsichord with baroque violinists Ūla Kinderytė (USA, Juliard School), Vera Otasek (Austria), Grazer Hofkapelle, Kristoforas chamber orchestra, Brevis consort and choir, Jauna muzika choir and other musicians. Vilimas Norkūnas is Art director of Early Music Festival "Baroque Spring“ at Biržai Castle. He is well known as a vivid and splendend seminar leader for Early music, Church music, Organ, Harpsichord, Chamber Music and Choral conducting.
